Summer time should be sunshine, swimming pools, salads, and sweet tea. That list alliterated on accident which is a rare and remarkable feat. The four S's of summer time were conquered yesterday, when Jewel (my new sister-in-law) and I spent the morning house-sitting and grocery shopping together.
That baby, who was not interested in getting more than her feet wet, was supposed to be a short-term baby watching deal, but yesterday when the daycare waiting list rolled around to her name, her mother decided she loved me too much to say goodbye. So, the short-term, "Oh, I'm only watching her til she gets accepted into her daycare." Turned into, "Yes, I watch this baby every day forever." Which is ok, because she's learning to say Manda, and I'm too fond of her to be ready to be Maura-less anyway.
In other news, I finished a book pool side yesterday, and it was so "meh" that I feel the need to convince you that even though the cover and title are catchy and on target, the book is lacking in umph, plot, and conclusion. Have you read anything interesting lately? I need something to clear my palate after that one.
I suggest: "Eleanor and Park" by Rainbow Rowell. Maybe you'd also like "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart too. And I loved "All the Truth That's in Me" by Julie Berry. These are all older teen books. --a librarian reader.
ReplyDeleteOk two more - How about "Girl of Fire and Thorns" by Rae Carson and "Finnikin of the Rock" by Melina Marchetta. I'm doing this blindly, since I don't know you in person and have only read some of your posts, but these are both fantasy w/a lot of heart.
ReplyDeleteOooh! My Grandma and the lady whose baby I watch are both librarians, so when I read your first post I thought it might be one of them. :) I'll definitely check those out. Thanks for the suggestions!
