Gift Buying Guide for Toddler Girls
Portia's second birthday fell on April 2nd: Her Golden Birthday.
This virus has affected every day, and this day was no exception. I was dreading it, in all of its abnormality, but Portia was oblivious. The night before, we baked a cake; babies cracking eggs and helping hold the hand mixer. In the end, the cake burned in the cast iron, and Matt brought home a store-bought cake which I frosted while the girls helped by eating chocolate frosting out of plastic spoons nearby. To, literally, top it off, we covered it in excessive sprinkles, all the while pretending that the cake had not shifted from funfetti to coconut cream.
Her Great-Grandparents mailed presents for her to open, video messages came in from several states, both sets of Grandparents and Aunts from both sides of our family came (in separate waves) to the front porch to watch her open presents through the window and celebrate our second lady together, apart. What a world.
